Late Update on Franklin: Top Winds 150 mph

| August 29, 2023 @ 12:20 am

In the 10 p.m. advisory, Hurricane Franklin’s winds have increased to 150 mph, just 6 mph below the threshold for Cat Five by 6 mph.

The center of Franklin will pass west of Bermuda on Wednesday.

The island nation will experience a minor impact with wind gusts to 35-40 mph.

Those peak winds will occur Wednesday morning. There should not be significant damage.

Interestingly, Idalia will moving toward Bermuda by the weekend. But it well may recurve back toward the U.S. And the storm will be a mere shadow of its major hurricane self.
