Midday Nowcast: Mainly Sunny and Dry Days Continue

QUIET WEATHER CONTINUES: Mainly sunny and dry weather continues across Alabama the next several days. Highs will range from the upper 70s to lower 80s through Thursday, while nights will remain cool with 40s and 50s expected. The days will feature tons of sunshine, while nights will remain mainly clear as well.

CHANGE BEGINS: The day Thursday looks dry, but clouds will be increasing ahead of a cold front, which will bring a good chance of light rain at times Thursday night and Friday. This won’t be a “drought buster”, but amounts of around 1/2 inch are likely statewide, and anything will help at this time. These are the best chances for rain that most of the state has seen in quite some time. Behind the front, highs Friday will drop into the upper 60s to lower 70s across Alabama.

COOLER WEEKEND WEATHER: The front will stall down along the Gulf Coast Saturday, and there is some chance some rain could linger over the weekend, most likely over the southern half of the state. The weather will be cooler with highs in the 60s and lows in the upper 40s and low 50s… the sky will be generally cloudy both days across North/Central Alabama. Not much change for the first half of next week with generally dry weather with seasonal temperatures; highs mostly in the 60s, and lows in the 40s.

IN THE TROPICS: The Atlantic Basin is quiet with no tropical cyclone development through the weekend. Hurricane season ends November 30th and the remaining names on list this year are Vince and Whitney.
