The NWS Memphis has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for two counties SW of Memphis.

Further south, the narrow line of thunderstorm is approaching Monroe, LA. It is about 220 miles west of Sumter County on the Alabama border now. It is moving east at approximately 30 mph.

A narrow tongue of instability is pooling ahead of the line of storm, but it is meager at best. Still, with strong upper levels winds, a few damaging wind gusts will occur with the line as it moves east overnight.

It should arrive in West Alabama around 2 a.m. or so.

We will be monitoring developments throughout the night as the line crosses the state.
