Midday Nowcast: Terrific Tuesday; Dry Rest of Week
The sky is mostly sunny today, but some clouds will move into the northern half of the state tonight thanks to a clipper system. A few sprinkles are possible tonight, mainly over Northeast Alabama, but most of the state will stay dry. Highs this afternoon are near 60°, while lows tonight will be generally in the upper 30s.
REST OF WEEK: Tomorrow will be a sunny and cooler day with highs in the 50s. It will also be a breezy day at times with northerly winds of 10-15 mph. The weather will be dry Thursday and Friday with sunny days and fair nights. Highs will be closer to 60° on Thursday, followed by 60s statewide Friday. Expect lows generally in the 30s and 40s these night.
WEEKEND WEATHER: Saturday will be dry and pleasant with a high in the 60s. Clouds will increase late in the afternoon as our next weather system will bring rain back into the state Sunday. Widespread rain and storms are expected Sunday, but we are not expecting severe weather for most of the state, due to the low pressure tracking to the south. If there are any strong storms Sunday, they will be closer to the Gulf Coast. Highs Sunday will be in the 50s. We will maintain the chance of rain statewide Monday. Rainfall totals for the state will range from one-half inch to the north with totals closer to one and half inches to the south.
REST OF NEXT WEEK: The weather most of next week looks dry with highs mostly in the 50s, and lows mostly in the 30s. No signs of severe weather or bitterly cold Arctic air for the Deep South for the next 7-10 days.
