Midday Nowcast: Hello February

| February 1, 2024 @ 11:00 am

The new month is starting off very nice. After the morning freeze, we are seeing temperatures rebound into the lower 60s in many locations this afternoon under a sky full of sunshine. However, there are some upper-level clouds in the sky, giving us a milky, filtered sunshine look. Tonight, will be clear, but not as cold with lows in the mid to upper 30s. Great weather continues tomorrow with plenty of sunshine, highs will be surging into the mid and upper 60s.

SPLENDID SATURDAY: Saturday will be dry and pleasant with highs mostly in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Clouds will begin to increase late in the day, but overall, Saturday will be an exceptional day of weather for Alabama, especially for early February.

RAIN RETURNS: Periods of rain are in the forecast through out the day as a low pressure tracks to the south of the state. The day will be cloudy and rather cool with highs in the 50s, and some locations will hold in the in the 40s. Cooler, stable air means no severe storms, and likely no thunder. The rain will continue at time Sunday night and into the day Monday. Rainfall totals will be in the one-half to one inch range for most of North and Central Alabama.

NEXT WEEK: The rest of next week, the weather looks dry with highs in the 50s and 60s, while lows will be in the 30s and 40s. Some rain looks to return next weekend. Still no signs of bitterly cold Arctic air for the Deep South for the next 7-10 days.
