Midday Nowcast: Fantastic Friday

Great weather across Alabama today with plenty of sunshine and afternoon highs are surging into the mid and upper 60s. Tonight, will feature a mainly clear sky with lows in the low to mid 40s.

USA BRIEF: Two strong systems will impact the Lower 48, one currently moving through the Intermountain West with strong winds and heavy precipitation. This system tracks across the South with a few severe thunderstorms and heavy rain. The next system arrives into California later this weekend with more heavy precipitation and strong winds. For the center of the nation, above normal temperatures and snowmelt.

SPLENDID SATURDAY: The weather will remain dry and pleasant tomorrow with highs mostly in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Clouds will begin to increase late in the day, but overall, tomorrow will be another exceptional day of weather for Alabama, especially for early February.

RAIN RETURNS: Periods of rain return to Alabama Sunday as a low pressure tracks to the south of the state. The day will be cloudy and quiet chilly with highs struggling to climb out of the 40s. Colder, stable air means no severe storms, and likely no thunder. The rain will continue at time Sunday night and into the day Monday. Rainfall totals will be in the one-half to one inch range for most of North and Central Alabama.

NEXT WEEK: The rest of next week, the weather looks dry with highs in the 50s and 60s, while lows will be in the 30s and 40s. Some rain looks to return by Friday and the weekend. Still no signs of bitterly cold Arctic air for the Deep South for the next 7-10 days.
