Flash Flood Warning East Alabama

Water is reportedly in houses in Wedowee in East Alabama’s Randolph County.

Rainfall estimates range from 1.5 inches to over 4 inches across parts of Cleburne, Clay and Randolph Counties.

This has prompted the NWS to issue a flash flood warning for those counties.

Be alert to rising water in area streams. Do not drive or wade into flood waters.

The back edge of the main rain area now extends from Centre to Heflin to Clanton to Camden to Monroeville.

It is moving only slowly east, waiting for its next nudge. That nudge will come in the form of the main upper trough, that is now pushing east through Mississippi.

You can see its effect in the form of numerous showers now forming generally in a 50 mile wide band roughly aligned in the I-59 corridor from Marshall and Etowah Counties southwestward to Sumter County.

A few of these showers could develop enough to have thunder. No real severe weather is expected, although hail could get interesting with the colder air aloft.
