Severe Thunderstorm Watch for North Alabama: Tornado Warning for Monroe County, MS

| March 15, 2024 @ 4:52 am

A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect until 10 a.m. CDT for North and Central Alabama.

The line of storms has intensified early this morning.

There is a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Lamar and Marion Counties.

That portion of the line has become more north-south oriented, which is more conducive for severe weather.

We are watching a signature on radar over northeastern Monroe County, Mississippi just across the border from Detroit in northern Lamar County. Our friends in northern Lamar and southern Marion should be monitoring this activity closely.

The NWS in Memphis just issued a tornado warning for Monroe County.

The line is capable of producing a spin up tornado or damaging winds at any time. Winds are shown on velocity to be 50-55 mph just above the surface.
