Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Parts of Perry, Chilton, and Dallas Counties

An MCV or Mesoscale Convective Vortex seems to be forming over West Central Alabama tonight, centered on eastern Perry County.

Damaging winds and hail as well as a spin up tornado are all possible with this storm.

The most dangerous area is in eastern Perry County west of Plantersville.

Southwestern Chilton County in central Alabama…
East central Perry County in central Alabama…
Northeastern Dallas County in south central Alabama…

* Until 1100 PM CDT.

* At 1017 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles east of
Marion, moving east at 45 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Paul M Grist State Park, Valley Creek Junction, Plantersville, and
Radford.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 200 AM CDT for central and
south central Alabama.
