Oklahoma Ice

Thanks to David Baxley, Chief Meteorologist for KSWO-TV in Lawton, Oklahoma, for these images. He writes:

“Hey James & JB!

Here are a few pictures you can share if you’d like. Thousands of folks are still without power in southwest Oklahoma alone. For a time, 50,000 people were in the dark just in the city of Lawton. Trees have been either toppled, snapped, or split in two by the weight of the ice. Power lines came crashing down all over the place. I’ve never lived through such. I said the same thing on Christmas Eve during the blizzard out here. This winter is rough, and I can’t wait for Spring. I think many people are echoing those sentiments, and I hope Mother Nature will be a bit more kind to us during our upcoming Spring tornado season.

I am one of the lucky ones; I have power! I have heard reports that some of our rural residents may not receive electrical service for another 7 to 10 days.”
