An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

TONIGHT/TOMORROW: An impulse in the southern stream will bring a little light rain to Alabama tonight. The main window for the light rain will be from about 6:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m., and we project amounts of less than one quarter of an inch for North Alabama. I should note we might hear of a few reports of sleet tonight as the precipitation begins due to evaporative cooling, but most all of the precipitation will be rain. Tomorrow, morning clouds should give way to a partly sunny afternoon with a high in the low to mid 50s.

Wednesday promises to be a nice day with ample sunshine and a high in the mid 50s, just about where we should be in early February.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: Our weather turns really wet on these days as a surface low moves out of the Gulf of Mexico. It should bring one inch of rain to much of the state, with isolated amounts to two inches. And, this time, no worries about ice or snow, and there is no threat of severe weather or significant flooding. Just plain ole rain on both days.

OUR WEEKEND: Saturday should feature a clearing sky, and the weather turns colder with a high in the low to mid 40s. Sunshine returns in full force on Sunday with a high in the upper 40s.

NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: The southern branch of the jet stream will remain very active for the rest of February, meaning a rain-producing system every three to four days. And, with a strong downward AO spike at mid-month, that night bring the potential for winter weather fun and games to parts of the Deep South. See the Weather Xtreme video for more details.
