Another Batch of Rain Moving Into West Alabama

| April 21, 2024 @ 1:41 am

Rain has moved into western Alabama early on this Sunday morning. Rain is currently falling across parts of Hale, Greene, and northern Sumter counties.

The heaviest rain is near Geiger in Sumter County.

Activity is pushing northeast at 30-40 mph.

The rainfall is just in advance of a larger area of rain and storms across the SOuth that goes all the way back to San Antonio, Texas.

This activity will continue to push into Central Alabama overnight. No severe weather is expected though.

It is hard to tell how far north the activity will extend. The latest HRRR indicates the rainfall will extend as far north as US-278 but the heaviest rain will be along and south of a line from York to Jamison to Lafayette in Chambers County.
