Flash Flood Warning — Parts of Jackson, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan Co. Until 6:15 am

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Flash Flood Warning for several counties in north central Alabama, northeastern Alabama, northwestern Alabama, and middle Tennessee.

Limestone County
Madison County
Northern Morgan County
Jackson County
Lawrence County
Southern Franklin TN County
Southern Lincoln County

Remains in Effect Until:
The warning is in effect until 6:15 AM CDT.

Details:
At 3:06 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area, with 2 to 3 inches of rain already fallen and additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Impact:
Expect flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Locations Impacted:
Huntsville, Decatur, Madison, Athens, Scottsboro, Hartselle, Winchester, Moulton, Bridgeport, Moores Mill, Meridianville, Redstone Arsenal, Hazel Green, Priceville, Trinity, Stevenson, Cowan, Owens Cross Roads, Ardmore, and Hollywood are among the locations that may experience flash flooding.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions:
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay informed and follow safety guidelines to protect yourself and your property.
