Black Ice

A big part of Alabama was under a blanket of snow late this afternoon.
However, the snow is ending gradually from west to east and most of it
will be gone by this evening.

The Alabama countryside looks like a Christmas Card or a Kinkade
painting!

But there is a problem.

Some of the snow that collected on highways and overpasses–especially
those paved with black surfaces partially melted this afternoon. the
temperature will quickly dop below freezing this evening and the melt
will refreeze ino a thin sheet of ice. You can spin out in a flash.

Much caution is advised.

The snow has already ended in may parts of West and Central Alabama
and will end over the eastern sections this evening.

We are forecasting an overnight low of 22 for the Birmingham area.
