An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

WARM-UP CONTINUES: Our warming trend is progressing right on schedule. We should rise into the low 50s today, followed by mid to upper 50s tomorrow. The air remains dry and both days should feature a good supply of sunshine.

THE WEEKEND: I really think we can take that chance of isolated showers out of the forecast on Saturday. I guess a shower could pop up somewhere, but with very limited moisture and dynamics it looks like most places will stay dry with a high back in the mid to upper 50s. Sunday looks dry as well, and there is a good chance we hit the 60 degree mark during the afternoon hours with a southerly flow in the low levels. Bottom line is the weekend is looking pretty good at this point.

NEXT WEEK: The next chance of rain comes Monday of next week. The rain could begin late Sunday night, after midnight, but most global models have the best chance of rain from about 3:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday. There might even be some thunder involved, and it looks like a rain event with 1/2 to 1 inch possible for most of the state.

Colder air returns to the Deep South in the wake of that rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. What happens Thursday and Friday is very much up for debate; watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the model madness; the GFS had been advertising a Deep South snow storm yesterday, but it is gone on the 00Z and 06Z runs. That is the way it works, and that is why we call it voodoo land. With the strongly negative AO and the active southern stream, something like a snow event is certainly possible, but nobody knows now if or when it will happen. As usual, we will just have to stay tuned.

STORM ALERT 2010 IS IN MOUNDVILLE TONIGHT: Our annual severe weather rolls along; our next stop is tonight at Hale County High School in Moundville, which is right on Alabama 69 about 10 miles south of Tuscaloosa in far northern Hale County. The show begins at 7:00; be sure and get there early to get a good seat. See the entire tour schedule here!
