An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

WARMING TREND ROLLS ALONG: Looks like we might need to adjust our forecast highs for the weekend upward a bit, and nobody will have any issues with that. Models are generally in very good agreement; forecasting a high today in the mid to upper 50s, followed by low 60s tomorrow, and mid to upper 60s Sunday. Sunday could very well be our warmest day so far this year. And, we will stay generally dry through Sunday with a few scattered clouds at times over the weekend. Spring fever will be breaking out in full force. We sure deserve the break from the cold weather.

OUR NEXT RAIN: Rain returns to Alabama late Sunday night and Monday, with a surface low passing just to the north. We have potential for 1/2 to 1 inch, and there might even be a few thunderstorms around with a little surface based instability showing up. Just a reminder our tornado season is just around the corner. We don’t expect any severe weather Monday, but that time of the year is almost here.

TURNING COLD AGAIN: Global models agree that very cold air returns to the Deep South during the latter half of next week, but there is little agreement in details of how that evolves, and if there will be a snow or ice threat across our state. The latest GFS (the 06Z run) hints at some light snow Wednesday, but confidence in any specific solution is very low for now; we will have a better idea on coming attractions over the weekend. Watch the Weather Xtreme video for details on next week and beyond.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
