Rain and Storms Poised to Enter Alabama

| February 21, 2010 @ 7:55 pm | 5 Replies

Showers and thunderstorms cover much of North and North Central Mississippi this evening.

The rain extends into Northwest Alabama’s Lauderdale, Colbert and Franklin Counties.

Pretty good storms are in the Columbus, MS area at this hour, but nothing severe.

Storms will reach Marion and Lamar Counties in the next 45 minutes to an hour. They will have lightning and heavy rain with some gusty winds.

There are two severe thunderstorm warnings in Louisiana and one in Southwest Mississippi, just southwest of the Jackson area.

The storm near Utica, southwest of Jackson is fairly well organized with good indications of large hail. This storm is approaching Raymond.

Another severe storm is in the Natchez area. It will be heading toward Hazelhurst.

Severe weather is not expected in Alabama overnight, although there could be some strong storms , especially south of I-20. Most folks in Central Alabama will hear thunder overnight I think.

SHUTTLE COMING HOME
