Strong Storms Approaching NW Alabama; Should Weaken Upon Approach
Strong thunderstorms currently over northern Mississippi will track into NW Alabama within the next 90 minutes or so. These storms are expected to weaken, and we don’t anticipate any severe weather, and the severe thunderstorm warning that was associated with this line of storms was canceled. However, isolated lightning strikes, brief downpours, and some gusty winds of 30-40mph cannot be ruled out.
If spending time outdoors, remain weather aware and head indoors if you see lightning or hear thunder. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Lightning can strike more than 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
