New Cold Weather Advisory Issued For Central And Northeast Alabama Tonight

The NWS offices in both Huntsville and Birmingham have reissued the cold weather advisory, which is now in effect for tonight through Wednesday morning. This includes all of central Alabama as well as northeastern Alabama. Wind chills could drop to between 0 and 1o degrees during this time in the coldest areas, which can be hazardous to anyone spending prolonged periods of time outdoors. Here are some safety tips from the NWS per their statement within the cold weather advisory:

IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
  is exposed to these temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
