Storms have quickly become severe late this evening in Central Mississippi.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect at this hour for Yazoo, Attala and Montgomery Counties in Mississippi.

One very strong storm is just east of Yazoo City. Another is north of Kosciusko. They are moving northeast.

The lead storm could reach Northwest Alabama’s Lamar and Marion counties before 1:30 a.m.

The rest of the line will reach West Alabama during the early morning hours.

The SPC has just issued a severe thunderstorm watch for West Alabama until 5 a.m.

Counties included in the watch are: Fayette, Greene, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.

As you can see from the watch probabilities, the threat of damaging winds and tornadoes is very small, but there is a pretty good threat of large hail.
