Supercell Thunderstorms Approaching Southwestern Alabama; Monitoring The Tornado Threat Closely

| February 12, 2025 @ 2:50 pm

As of 2:45PM CST, supercell thunderstorms are ongoing in southern Mississippi with 2 active tornado warnings. The first near Hattiesburg, and the second near Brookhaven.

We are paying particularly close attention to the one near/east of Hattiesburg as this is on a path that could potentially take it into Choctaw or Washington counties fairly soon. To be clear, there is not currently a tornado warning for either county, but you should pay close attention to this storm.

Additional severe storms are expected over the southern half of the state later this afternoon and into the evening, so please remain weather aware and have ways to receive warnings.
