CLOUDS FADE AWAY: I am producing this a little early today… but at midday most all of Alabama is in bright sunshine; looks like one small patch of clouds hanging tough just north of Birmingham, but more than likely that will be gone by the time you read this. We are heading for the mid to upper 60s this afternoon, a big improvement from yesterday’s chill.

Tomorrow promises to be a beautiful day, with ample sunshine and a high in the mid 70s.

NEXT RAIN: The 12Z GFS is a little more aggressive with the next wave coming in later in the week; suggesting a pretty good chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. Some strong storms will be possible, and SPC has a low end (5 percent) severe weather probability out for now. This won’t be a major severe weather event, most likely, but with the system coming through at a time when the air will be warm and unstable, we will be watching for a few strong, possibly severe storms. Rain amounts of 1/2 inch are likely, and the main window for showers and storms will be from about 12:00 noon Thursday until 2:00 a.m. Friday. For now, Friday looks like a mostly dry day with a high in the 60s.

THE WEEKEND: Saturday looks delightful; mostly sunny with a high in the low 70s. However, the next wave will bring showers and possibly a thunderstorm back to Alabama Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: Monday will be cooler with some light rain or drizzle, but the upper trough won’t be nearly as deep or as cold as the one we dealt with yesterday. The weather looks dry and mild on Tuesday and Wednesday.

LONG RANGE: No point in trying to be really specific in the land of voodoo this time of the year, but at this point the GFS is not advertising any major severe weather threats through the first week of April, and no major freeze threats. But, we all know that could change.
