The Alabama News Center — Alabama Power retiree Vivian Cunningham receives master’s degree at 82

If a 78-year-old earning her bachelor’s degree from Samford University made for an uplifting story, imagine the jubilation now that Vivian Cunningham has added a master’s at age 82.

Such was the scene May 3 when Cunningham, an Alabama Power retiree, three-time great-grandmother and self-labeled go-getter, received her Master of Studies in Law from Samford’s Cumberland School of Law.

“I felt like I was just as young as the other students,” she joked.
