Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Chambers and Northern Tallapoosa Counties Until 8:30 AM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northern Tallapoosa County and all of Chambers County in east central Alabama, effective until 8:30 AM CDT. At 7:39 AM, radar indicated a line of severe storms extending from near Goldville to Alexander City, moving east at 60 mph.

These storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail. Potential impacts include damage to vehicles, roofs, siding, and trees. Locations in the path include Dadeville, Camp Hill, Cusseta, Fredonia, Southern Harbor, Horseshoe Bend, River View, and portions of Lake Martin. Residents in the warned area should seek shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
