Tornado Warning for Parts of Lauderdale and Colbert

Tornado warning in effect for northwestern Lauderdale and Colbert counties.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a tornado warning for northwestern Lauderdale and northwestern Colbert counties in northwestern Alabama, effective until 12:45 PM CDT. At 12:03 PM, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near J.P. Coleman State Park, moving east at 25 mph. Radar indicated rotation with this storm, which may produce a tornado at any time. Locations in the path include Riverton, Wright, Threet, Zip City, and Waterloo.

People in these areas should move to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid mobile homes and vehicles. Stay away from windows, and take cover now. Keep monitoring updates from trusted weather sources.
