Tornado Warning for Limestone, Morgan, and Lawrence Counties Until 6:45 PM CDT

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Tornado Warning for southwestern Limestone County, northwestern Morgan County, and northeastern Lawrence County in north central and northwestern Alabama. This warning is in effect until 6:45 PM CDT.

At 6:09 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Courtland, or about 15 miles north of Moulton, moving east at 45 miles per hour. Radar indicated rotation with this storm, and the threat includes a potential tornado along with half dollar size hail. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles is expected. Tree damage is also likely.

This dangerous storm will be near Decatur around 6:15 PM. Other locations that may be impacted include Coxey, Wheeler, Hillsboro, and Ripley.

Take cover now. Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
