Tornado Warning for Northeastern Cherokee County Until 10:15 PM CDT

At 9:12 PM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located just northwest of Fort Payne, moving east at 30 miles per hour. Law enforcement has confirmed the tornado and reports significant damage in DeKalb County.

This is a dangerous storm capable of producing a damaging tornado and quarter size hail. Flying debris will be a serious hazard to anyone without shelter. Mobile homes may be destroyed, and considerable damage to roofs, windows, vehicles, and trees is likely.

Areas in the path include Little River Canyon National Preserve, Little River Falls, New Moon, Broomtown, Chesterfield, and nearby rural areas.

If you are in the warned area, take shelter immediately. Move to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure. Stay away from windows. If you are in a mobile home, vehicle, or outside, move to a more secure location without delay.
