Several Tornadoes Confirmed From Tuesday Nights Storms

Tuesday night’s storm was quite active with multiple tornado warnings and some tornadoes. The Birmingham National Weather Service has sent two survey teams to assess damages throughout the Birmingham forecasting area. On Monday, the NWS sent out reports of damage in Bullock County, reporting an EF-1 rated tornado caused damage with winds up to 105 mph. There are also teams in St. Clair, Calhoun, Cleburne, and Bullock Counties. As the day(s) continue, they will continue to come out with more damage reports and incident reports.

As of Wednesday, more reports began to slowly come out. The Gurley tornado in Madison County was reported as an EF-2 with winds reaching up to 125 mph. This tornado went for roughly 13-15 miles and extended to roughly 380 yards. This tornado has reported no fatalities. It was on the ground for around 26 minutes.

The next tornado reported was in South Athens. This tornado is reported to be an EF-1 with winds reaching up to 105 mph. This tornado went for about 2.76 miles, stretching about 160 yards. There are also no fatalities reported with this tornado. It was on the ground for roughly 2 minutes.

The last tornado reported, as of Wednesday night, is the Killingsworth Cove tornado, located in Gurley Al., experienced winds up to 134 mph. This storm had a path of 1.41 miles with a width of 175 yards and was on the ground for about 4 minutes.

Madison County and many of the surrounding Huntsville areas were hit very heavily and the neighborhoods are working effortlessly to recover from these storms that just kept hitting them one after another Tuesday evening and night.

The NWS confirms 3 EF-1 tornadoes that hit the counties of Calhoun and Cleburne. First is the Saks tornado in Calhoun County, which was rated as an EF-1 with winds reaching up to 95 mph and traveled around 3.51 miles in the span of 5 minutes at 11 pm. The second one is in Cleburne County which was also rated an EF-1 that reached wind speeds up to 95 mph and went for roughly 1.97 miles. The third reported EF-1 was in Bullock County, which was the last tornado of the night around 4 am. This tornado reached wind speeds of 105 mph and traveled about 4.89 miles. No fatalities were reported for any of these tornadoes.

The NWS in Huntsville has not finished wrapping up their surveys yet, but we will have the latest information when it is released. The Birmingham NWS station has announced that they have completed its surveys.
