Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northern Marengo and Southern Sumter Counties Until 7:15 PM

Large hail is falling on the south side of Demopolis. Winds gusted to 52 mph at Merdian as these storms passed.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 7:15 PM CDT for northern Marengo and southern Sumter counties in west central and southwestern Alabama.

At 6:18 PM, radar showed a line of severe storms from Demopolis to near Alamucha moving east at 20 mph.

These storms are capable of producing quarter-size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Areas impacted include Demopolis, Linden, Myrtlewood, Jefferson, Coatopa, Chickasaw State Park, and the Demopolis Lock and Dam. Hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees is expected. Seek shelter indoors, away from windows, until the storm has passed.
