Tornado Warning Issued for Franklin County, TN and North Central Jackson County, AL

A new Tornado Warning is in effect until 4:45 PM CDT for parts of northeastern Alabama and southern Middle Tennessee. At 3:54 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 9 miles east of Fayetteville, moving east at 50 mph.

This warning includes:
…North central Jackson County in northeastern Alabama
…Southeastern Moore County, southeastern Lincoln County, and Franklin County in Tennessee

Locations in the path of this dangerous storm include Winchester by 4:10 PM, Cowan by 4:15 PM, and Sewanee by 4:25 PM. Additional locations that may be affected include Hurdlow, Maxwell, Elora, Russell Cave National Monument, St. Andrews, and Harmony.

Residents in the warned area should take immediate tornado precautions. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Mobile homes, vehicles, and temporary structures are unsafe—seek shelter now.

The blue polygons are significant weather advisories. Folks in those areas will experience gusty winds, heavy rain, and some small hail.
