Tornado Warning for Central Jackson and Northeastern DeKalb Counties Until 5:30 PM
The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Tornado Warning for central Jackson County and northeastern DeKalb County in northeastern Alabama, effective until 5:30 PM CDT.
At 4:46 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Hollywood, about 8 miles northeast of Scottsboro, moving southeast at 40 mph. Radar has indicated rotation, and this storm has the potential to produce a tornado at any moment.
Communities in the path include Pisgah, Henagar, Ider, and surrounding areas such as Dutton, Pine Ridge, Mentone, Sulpher Springs, and Desoto State Park. If you are in or near these locations, take cover immediately. Move to a small, interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
