The line of storms to the west has weakened dramatically over the past couple of hours.

It now extends from Corinth to east of Tupelo to west of Starkville to Louisville.

Very little lightning left in the line and most of that is confined to the northern portions of the line just described.

No reports of significant weather from northern Mississippi. The NWS Memphis has issued a flash flood warning for several counties in western Tennessee.

The good news for Alabama at least is that the severe weather threat has lessened for this afternoon. With the system moving faster, it will be mostly east of the state before it peak heating kicks up the instability. This is reflected in the Day One Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center. Forecasts will be revised accordingly.

As you can see, the severe threat now overs only extreme East Alabama.
