Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Jackson and DeKalb Counties in Alabama and Parts of Middle Tennessee
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 3:45 PM CDT for northeastern Alabama’s Jackson and DeKalb counties and for Franklin and Moore counties in Middle Tennessee.
At 2:50 PM, radar indicated severe thunderstorms along a line from near Lynchburg, TN to just east of Woodville, AL, moving east at 50 mph.
The primary hazard is damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, which may result in tree damage, downed power lines, and minor structural damage.
Getting numerous reports of trees and power lines down all across North and North central Alabama in the wake of the storms. Today is a day when we need to pay special attention to severe thunderstorm warnings and take them seriously.
Communities in the path include Scottsboro, Winchester, Bridgeport, Decherd, and Henagar.
Residents should move indoors and stay away from windows.
