Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern Dallas County Until 5:15 PM CDT

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Dallas County in south central Alabama, effective until 5:15 PM CDT.

At 4:28 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Orrville, approximately 17 miles southeast of Uniontown, and was moving southeast at 25 miles per hour. The storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-sized hail, as indicated by radar. Hail damage to vehicles is expected, along with potential wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Areas likely to be impacted include Orrville, Bogue Chitto, Dannelly Reservoir, Tilden, Whites Bluff, Carlowville, Crumptonia, Safford, and Minter. Residents in the warned area should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building for protection. Continuous cloud-to-ground lightning is also occurring with this storm; if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck. Move indoors immediately.
