Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Portions of Marengo, Greene, and Hale Counties Until 4:00 PM CDT

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northeastern Marengo County in southwestern Alabama, southeastern Greene County in west central Alabama, and southwestern Hale County in west central Alabama, effective until 4:00 PM CDT.

At 3:09 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Duffys Bend, approximately 8 miles northeast of Demopolis, and was moving southeast at 20 miles per hour. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and penny-sized hail, as indicated by radar. These conditions may cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Areas likely to be impacted include Uniontown, Newbern, Faunsdale, Duffys Bend, Arcola, Birdine, Gallion, Cedarville, and Laneville. Residents in the warned area should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building for protection.
