A Late Morning Look at Father’s Day

| June 15, 2025 @ 11:08 am

As of 10:50AM, we are seeing scattered showers and storms over the southeast corner of the state, along with some showers forming over the western parts of Alabama, in between Fayette and Tuscaloosa. The rest of the state is dry at this point, but more showers and storms are expected to form throughout the afternoon and persist into the evening. Everything should have dissipated by the late local news tonight.

Temperatures are currently ranging from the mid 70s in the north to the upper 80s in the south. It will get uncomfortable outside today, however, as humidity levels will make it muggy, along with highs reaching the mid 80s to the lower 90s. That means heat index values will reach in the neighborhood of 90–100 degrees.

The good news is that organized severe weather is not expected today, however, there is the potential for strong storms with gusty winds, plenty of lightning, and heavy rainfall. We may get one or two storms that may briefly become severe with winds up to 60 mph.

Just be sure to keep your umbrella handy today, and it wouldn’t hurt to have your radar app ready so you can keep an eye on the storms that do form today. Enjoy the day, dads.
