Dangerous Storm Over Bridgeport With Ping Pong Ball Size Hail

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northeastern Jackson and DeKalb counties in Alabama until 5:45 PM CDT. At 5:12 PM, a dangerous storm was located near Stevenson. It is nearly stationary but expanding. It will impact areas up to Bridgeport.

This storm is producing ping pong ball size hail (1.5 inches) and wind gusts up to 60 mph. These hazards can cause significant damage to vehicles, roofs, windows, and siding, and pose a serious risk to anyone outdoors.

Areas in the path include Bridgeport, Fabius, Higdon, and Long Island.

Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows and avoid driving through storm-affected areas.
