Update–Attack on Little Miss Molly

Scroll down a short distance for the My Tiny Corner part of the Seven Day Planner telling about the sudden attack on Miss Molly very early this morning.

I am writing this update at 4:15 pm to let all of you know how much we appreciate your concerns and prayers. I am absolutely amazed at how big the Molly fan club has become. After the story this afternoon, we received 97 messages in less than 30 minutes. I will acknowledge them all.

Many thanks to the staff at Argo Animal Clinic who gave Molly instant attention this morning. She is going to be OK. There were no internal injuries but i sure thought there would be. She is under sedation now and resting well but still frightened. . She spent much of the day under the bed, her usual safe hideout during thunderstorms.

Here is the original story. I apologize for taking up so much space. After all, this is a weather blog–not a doggie blog!

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: It is a sad corner today. I hate to report that while Little Miss Molly and I were on a walk very early this morning, Molly was viciously attacked by a dog about three times her size right in the edge of our own backyard. It turned into a huge three-way brawl with Molly helpless. I fought vigorously to get the larger dog off of Molly where he had sunk his teeth into her lower back and side. I kicked him, slugged him—nothing would do. I finally picked both dogs up, ran into our back patio and opened our back door to let Molly go inside. I had to pry the dog off Molly. Then I threw him into the yard, but he tried to get back in. The dog was not on a leash and did not have a collar. I do not say this because Molly is so close to us, but in my opinion there is not a better goodwill ambassador, human or dog, anywhere. The big dog had sunk his teeth into Molly and came close to puncturing her lower intestine. My fear is that Molly may not be so friendly in the future. However, Thomas Taylor, the human grandfather of Dino, brought him by to see Molly late this morning and they were glad to see each other. I was thankful for that. The bad part about the attack is that the dog that grabbed Molly is one that she always trusted. We took Molly to the vet and he told us that she apparently has no internal injuries. She is on a strong antibiotic and pain medicine. I sure thought it was the end of Molly. I deeply appreciate all the good wishes she has received today. Life goes on. Pardon me for taking up so much space with this, but it was very traumatic for all of us….
