An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

SEVERE CLEAR: You sure don’t get long dry periods like this in mid-April all that often. Today will be the 4th consecutive day of dry weather statewide, with ample sunshine and a high at or just over 80 degrees this afternoon. Ridging aloft will keep us dry all week, with sunny days and clear nights through Friday. Afternoon highs should be mostly in the 80 to 85 degree range, with lows in the 50s. High cirrus clouds will float overhead from time to time, but nothing to seriously block the sun.

THE WEEKEND: Watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see a weak surface boundary will pass through the state on Saturday, and we will need to mention the chance of widely scattered showers or storms. Nothing widespread, but a shower or two will be possible as the front slips through. Cooler air will follow the front, and Sunday should be dry and pleasant. The high Saturday will be in the mid 70s, followed by low 70s on Sunday.

LONG RANGE: Still no sign of any serious severe weather issues for the Deep South for the rest of the month, but a decent rain event is possible around April 21, and the winds aloft do strengthen with the southern branch of the jet stream during the last week of the month, which hints at our weather becoming more active again.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left. This week, test your skills at separating truth from fiction with some amazing weather stories. That show will be recorded tomorrow night.
