Iceland volcano

This image of the volcanic ash plume being produced by the volcano in southern Iceland was taken by the MODIS satellite at 1315 UTC (815 am CDT) yesterday. The ash is now moving over parts of northern Europe, as far south as England. If the eruption continues, the sun-blocking ash could eventually affect the weather over large areas. The eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991 caused cooling in much of the Northern Hemisphere.
