Hottest Part of the Day

| August 13, 2007 @ 4:21 pm | 9 Replies

It’s 4 o’clock and on a hot summer day this is usually about the hottest part of the day.

Things are cooking, so we look at some 4 pm temperatures:

89 in Mobile
96 Dothan and Ozark
97 Auburn, Alexander City
98 Troy
99 Evergreen, Gadsden. Shelby County Airport
102 Anniston, Decatur, Muscle Shoals, Maxwell Air Force Base (Montgomery)
103 Birmingham, Montgomery/Dannelly Field, Huntsville
104 Tuscaloosa

ALMOST LIKE A DESERT WIND
At Huntsville, the 4 pm temperature of 103 was with a relative humidity of only 19% and a NE wind gusting to 20 mph. That is almost like standing at the door of a blast furnace (well, not quite) but that is typical of desert country.

Later this evening, we will post a complete list of today’s highs, including reports from official stations, 33/40 Skywatchers and other private weather stations.
