That big group of thunderstorms that was dumping very heavy rain over West Central Alabama continues to move toward the NE. The leading edge now near Downtown Birmingham.

However as the storms got closer to Birmingham, they got into a big area of rain-cooled air and began going “downhill.” Translation: getting weaker.

Still they are capable of producing locally heavy rain as they move across Shelby and Jefferson County. The 33/40 Skywatcher for Coker, west of Tuscalooa, Ronald Hughes reported
1.02 inches of rain. John Talbot, the observer for Concord/Hueytown reported 1.03 inches

The public reported several pine trees down near the Union Hill Baptist Church about six miles WNW of Hueytown.

The strongest storms and heaviest rain seemed to be across Bibb and Chilton County
