Sky Show This Weekend
A big partial lunar eclipse will be visible across Alabama and much of the United States early, early Saturday morning. Just look west just before sunrise, around 5 a.m. The event will be made even more beautiful by the horizon effect, since the setting moon will be close to the western horizon. I hope that you got the chance to check it out.
While you’re outside looking at the eclipse, check out the feel of sunrise, which will occur about 5:38 a.m. Enjoy the changing sky, jump in temperature, feel of the air. Remember to never look directly at the sun, which can do damage to your eyes before you feel any pain.
Also, you will get a great opportunity to see a super bright International Space Station as it does flyby in the western sky starting at 5:03 a.m., rising in the west northwest and reaching a maximum elevation of 33 degrees above the horizon. Other flybys will occur this weekend on Sunday morning at 3:55 a.m. and Sunday night at 8:20 p.m.
Make sure to comment on your observations!
