Early Afternoon Radar Tour
Showers and thunderstorms are fairly numerous across Central Alabama, mainly west of I-65 early this afternoon.
The main activity extends in an acro from SE Winston County through Walker, Fayette, eastern Tuscaloosa, western Shelby and into Bibb County.
Just to the southwest, more growing storms are in Hale County, with more action in Southwest Alabama.
Additional showers and storms were over Etowah and St. Clair County.
The best storm is northwest of Greensboro in Hale County. Others with a good bit of lightning included storms north and south of Jasper, between Brookwood and West Blocton, and growing between Ashville and Steele.
The storm just west of Alabaster is growing.
The western activity is generally moving SSE, almost as if it is curving around the ridge.
Temperatures are right around 90F at most locations.
More storms will develop this afternoon. They will deliver brief very heavy rains and deadly lightning, so take cover as they approach your area or form nearby. Winds will also be gusty, but should remain below severe levels today except in isolated cases.
