Igor Already Cat 4…Clear and Warm Sunday Here

Igor has been upgraded to a category four hurricane this afternoon based on its satellite presentation with top winds estimated at 135 mph and an estimated central pressure of 950 mb. Winds are expected to increase to 145 mph tonight and 150 mph over the next couple of days. If it does, it will be only 10 mph from being a cat five.

It is 1100 miles east of the island of St. Martin or 1300 miles east of San Juan.

Movement is west at 14. It is expected to move north of the islands by midweek and recurve off the East Coast over the weekend.

CLOSER TO HOME
Clear skies across Alabama this afternoon with temperatures approaching or having surpassed 90F at most Central Alabama locations. Dewpoints are crashing over the Tennessee Valley, with a reading of 49F at Muscle Shoals, 50F at Huntsville. We are already down to 59F at Birmingham. Low temperatures tonight will drop to near 60 on average, with cooler locations getting into the 50s.
