RAIN VERY HARD TO FIND: Looking at weather maps, sure looks like the rest of September will be relatively dry for much of Alabama and the Deep South. We will have a day or two with showers around, but the prospect of a major, soaking rain event isn’t look good.

REST OF THE WEEK: Mostly sunny warm days and fair pleasant nights will continue through Thursday. Friday, a passing front might set off a shower or two, but moisture will be extremely limited, and the chance of rain looks so small at this point that it doesn’t really make sense to include in the forecast. Highs will be at or just over 90, with lows generally in the 60s.

THE WEEKEND: No change. Lots of sunshine Saturday and Sunday with a high around 90. Lows remain in the 60s. And, this will be the story early next week as well. We are having a hard time finding any big chance of rain.

TROPICS: Hurricanes Igor and Julia will recurve east of the U.S… Igor could be close to Bermuda this weekend, but it should be in a weakening phase by then due to cooler water and shear. The wave in the Caribbean most likely will be upgraded to a tropical depression within the next few hours, then becoming Tropical Storm Karl as it moves into the Yucatan Peninsula. Then, Karl will emerge into the Bay of Campeche, with the next landfall along the Mexican coast well south of Brownsville, Texas. Igor, Julia, and Karl are no threat to the Central Gulf Coast.
