Statewide Fire Alert Remains In Effect

| September 29, 2010 @ 2:13 pm | Reply

All 67 counties in the state of Alabama continue under a Fire Alert. Although the rain of the past weekend was welcome, it was not enough to significantly decrease the wildfire danger. While under this Fire Alert, outdoor burning is restricted.

In the last 30 days, 535 wildfires have occurred in Alabama burning approximately 5,877 acres of land. The Fire Alert, issued on September 23, will remain in effect until rescinded by the State Forester, at which time conditions will have changed sufficiently to reduce the frequency and severity of wildfires.
