DRY DAYS: If you have enjoyed the weather over the past few days, you will love our seven day forecast. The bottom line is that our weather won’t change too much for the next 7 to 10 days, with pleasant days and cool nights. Temperatures this afternoon range from 73 at Cullman to 80 at Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Anniston (2:00 p.m. observations).

TOMORROW THROUGH NEXT WEEK: The high tomorrow will be close to 80, followed by upper 70s on Friday. A fresh supply of cool air arrives over the weekend, and will drop highs into the low 70s by Sunday. The coolest mornings will come early Monday and Tuesday morning, with most places will begin the day in the 43 to 48 degree range. The colder valleys across North Alabama have a good chance of visiting the upper 30s for the first time this fall season. Needless to say, the weather this weekend will nearly perfect for football games and anything you want to do outside.

LONG RANGE: Out in voodoo land, still no sign of any serious chance of rain through mid-October, with temperatures at or below seasonal averages. We note the 12Z GFS shows a big amplification of the upper trough over the eastern U.S. around October 13, which could mean a little scattered light frost for the colder valleys of North Alabama. This same upper trough should keep potential tropical systems well to the east of Alabama.

NICOLE: The tropical storm south of Miami is very disorganized… it will move northeast and bring heavy rain to the eastern seaboard during the next 48 hours. It will become extra-tropical within 24 hours as it merges with a cold front.
