An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

THIS MORNING: Watch the Weather Xtreme video and check out that big tornado watch over the mid-Atlantic coast. About 9 million people live within that box, which includes Washington and Baltimore. Some historic flooding is likely for parts of the North Carolina coast and the Outer Banks (scroll down to see the statement from the NWS Wilmington). A little moisture has wrapped back into Georgia and extreme Northeast Alabama, but 99 percent of Alabama is dry this morning with temperatures mostly in the 50s.

TODAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND: We stay dry with sunny pleasant days and clear cool nights. The high today will be at or just over 80, but a cooling trend is likely over the weekend with a new surge of continental air. The high by Sunday will drop into the low 70s, and we will be in the 40s early Monday and Tuesday morning of next week. Still looks like the colder valleys reach the upper 30s for the first time this season.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Fantastic weather for the high school games tonight and tomorrow night; temperatures will drop from the mid 70s at kickoff into the mid 60s by the final whistle. The sky will be clear both nights and there is no chance of rain.

On Saturday, Auburn has an early kickoff (11:00 a.m.) against Louisiana-Monroe at Jordan Hare Stadium. The fans will be drenched in sunshine, with temperatures in the 73 to 76 degree range during the game. Alabama will host Florida Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium (7 p.m. kickoff)… the sky will be clear, with temperatures falling from near 70 at kickoff into the upper 50s by the fourth quarter. Jacksonville State has a home game Saturday night against Murray State (6 p.m. kickoff); the sky will be clear with the temperature falling from 71 at kickoff into the cool mid 50s by the end of the game. Should be a great weekend for football all across the Deep South.

LONG RANGE: Still no serious rain showing up on the global models through mid-October. Based on data from the Birmingham Airport, we will wind up with only 0.43? of rain for the entire month, which is three and a half inches below average. The rain deficiency for the year is 3.54?, and it will grow in coming days since a very dry airmass will stay in place for at least the next 7 days. We note that most other places are drier… the rain deficiency at Tuscaloosa is now 9 inches for the year.

TROPICS: A few disorganized waves are showing up across the Atlantic, but we have no active tropical storms now.
