An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

WARMER DAYS: The warming trend continues in coming days for Alabama…. we expect a high in the low 80s today, followed by mid 80s tomorrow. The GFS ramps us up into the upper 80s over the weekend; the model has been running a few degrees too warm in recent days, so we will hold the high in the mid 80s, although some West Alabama communities might see 87 or 88 Saturday and Sunday afternoon. No moisture means no clouds and no rain through the weekend. The humidity will remain low and nights very pleasant.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: For the high school games tonight and tomorrow night, the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from the upper 70s at kickoff into the mid 60s by the fourth quarter. Absolutely no chance of rain.

Saturday, Alabama travels to Columbia, SC to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks (2:30 p.m. CDT kickoff). The sky will be sunny with a kickoff temperature near 83 degrees, then falling into the 70s by the final whistle. Auburn is also on the road; they will play Kentucky in Lexington at 6:30 p.m. CDT… the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from near 80 at kickoff, into the 60s by the final whistle. And, Jacksonville State travels to Martin, Tennessee to take on UT-Martin at 1:00 CDT… lots of sunshine during the game with temperatures in the low 80s at kickoff.

NEXT WEEK: An upper trough will bring a chance of scattered showers to Alabama Monday night and Tuesday of next week, but limited moisture means rain amounts will be light and spotty… nothing especially widespread or beneficial. Then, cooler air moves back into Alabama over the latter half of the week.

LONG RANGE: Watch the Weather Xtreme video and the GFS gives some hope of rain around October 20, followed by much colder air that might bring a widespread frost to the Halloween pumpkins October 21-24.

TROPICS: Otto sure doesn’t look like a classic tropical storm, but whatever it happens to be is east of the Bahamas and will move northeast over the open Atlantic, no threat to the U.S. The rest of the Atlantic basin is quiet.
